The 3 Biggest Mistakes You Can Make With Your Online Business

September 30th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Marketing Ideas Author

1)Picking the wrong market. I am very familiar with this. I have spent way too much time in a market that bought my products, But the market had very little potential for back end products and other offers.

Choose your market based on your goals. If you’re goal is to make $1000 online and are happy with that then going into a niche that has little competition, and no back end potential is fine.

I recommend fining a niche inside one of the 3 main markets:

Health/Diet Money/Finance Relationships/Dating

Obviously these are huge, highly competitive markets.

But you must carve out a niche within one of those markets, if you want to have an opportunity to make back end offers and charge top dollar for your products and services.

Now, if you are just starting out online… I do recommend that you start out with a tiny niche with little or no competitors…While you get your salesmanship and traffic generations skills up to par.

2)Building your product before you have built your market.

This should be rule number 1.

I can’t tell you how many times I come in contact with people that tell me they have spent years working on their product, without even knowing if there is a market of people that are willing to buy it.

Like the great Gary Halbert always said.

You can have any competitive advantage you want. Just give me a starving crowd and I can sell them anything.

So make sure you pick out a market of people who are looking for you.

This Is Crucial

There is nothing more frustrating that climbing a mountain for years, and then realizing that you have been climbing the wrong mountain.

How is that for a metaphor.

That’s been true in my life, so hopefully I can help you avoid it.

3)Majoring in minor things.

Most people spend way too much time on the details.

Just get moving. SPEED is key to success online.

Don’t spend months creating a sales letter to test. Write your fist draft in a couple of hours, and then send traffic to it.

Keep improving it little by little. As the Japanese call it… Kaizen.(Constant improvement)

Before you know it you’ll have an extremely profitable sales letter that can pay you rent for a long time.

So don’t focus on the details too much in the beginning.

You can always get a new domain name, you can always tweak your headline, you can always improve your products.

Just get moving.

I know what it’s like to have slaved over a products for months only to find out that nobody wants it.

So that’s it. 3 quick tips to get you started on the right track for your online business.
