5 Easy and Low Cost Ways to Promote Your Website
October 26th, 2007 Filed under: Uncategorized — Marketing Ideas Author“Build it and they will come” is a phrase made popular by Kevin Costner and the movie “Field of Dreams”. It may have worked for the movie, but flops when it comes to websites.
Successful websites have several things in common, not the least of which is that they are marketed to the proper audience. They are not designed and left sitting out there with the hopes that someone, anyone will stumble across them and hire you, buy your products, etc.
I use over 30 different ways to turn my website into a traffic magnet which delivers unique visitors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
There are several ways to generate traffic that can easily be implemented for little to no cost. Here are just a few which I successfully use:
1. Article marketing.
I write all my own articles and one of my assistants submits them to article directories for me. This drives traffic to my site and sign-ups for my ezine.
Not comfortable with writing? You can go to a site such as Elance and have articles written for you. You own the copyright and can use them as you wish.
2. Go offline to get more online.
Sometimes emails don’t go through. Sometimes people are too busy to open them.
Send a simple postcard which drives prospects to an offer online (your f*ree special report or a teleseminar) — once they visit your website, many will sign up for your email newsletter. I use Overnight Prints for all my postcard printing.
3. Put your website on everything you do.
This sounds like a no-brainer, but I’m constantly surprised by the number of packages, letters, business cards, etc. I receive which have no website on them.
My website is listed on my envelopes, labels, business card, coaching applications, car bumper (yep, there too!). Put it on everything — you never know who will see and act upon it!
4. Participate in forums, chat rooms and discussion boards.
You aren’t there to sell. Pop in from time to time and provide them with a good tip or resource.
Those who resonate with you will go to your website to learn more about you.
5. Submit your profile.
Yet another thing which constantly amazes me is the fact that people will spend hundreds of dollars on memberships for the Chamber of Commerce, BNI, etc. and never submit their business profiles.
Memberships in different professional organizations create credibility and the feeling that you care about your business. If you belong, know the benefits for your business and USE THEM.
Your Coaching Challenge
I challenge you to identify 3 strategies you can use, and are not currently using, to promote your website. Once identified, implement those strategies one-by-one until all are done. And then select another three and implement those. This will give you the traffic and exposure you want.
