Become A Marketer, Not An Internet Marketer

“I’m an internet marketer…” How often have you heard that? How often have you said that? I know I’m as guilty as anyone out there when it come to this, but there is really no such thing as an internet marketer.

You must understand that is a media, just like a radio, TV, mail and phones. To be honest with you, I have never heard of people saying, “I’m a radio marketer” or “I’m a phone marketer.” The reason why I want you to know this is because you are severely limiting yourself when you call yourself an “internet marketer.”

In order to let you become a marketer, not an internet marketer am going to help you expand your mind to even further to what is it to being a marketer.

The Most Important Ways To Build A Successful Business

You see, there are three ways to build a successful business. Below are the three ways:

1. Increase the number of your customers (also known as lead generation).

2. Increase the amount of money each customer spend with you.

3. Get them to buy more often.

I want to spend some time on each of the following above, sharing about online and offline ways to improve your marketing techniques.

Increase your customer list (lead generation)

This is all about getting more people onto your lists and into your sales funnel. There are many different means to generate leads. Below are some online and offline method you can use:

Online Lead Generation:

  • Targeted Communities: Finding forums, message boards and groups of your niche.

  • Joint ventures: Finding JV partners with similar lists.

  • CPA Networks: Paying people per lead.

  • Viral Marketing: Creating viral products that get people to spread your message.

  • Articles: Submit articles to directories with links back to your site.

  • E-zine Articles: Buy ads in popular newsletter.

  • Press Release: Submit press release at PRWeb.com.

  • Pay-Per-Click: Do PPC campaign in three major search engine, Google,Yahoo, MSN.

  • SEO: Build content sites around keywords in your niche.

  • Ebay: Creating and selling reports on Ebay.

  • MySpace:Creating profiles and big friend networks.

  • Podcasts: Create podcast and submit them to iTunes and other directories.

Offline Lead Generation:

  • Rent Buyer Lists: Send postcard or direct mail to generate new leads.
  • Live Seminars: Networking with people at live seminars, getting their cards and adding them to your customer lists.
  • Joint Ventures: Mail postcard and direct mail to customer’s lists from products that complement yours.
  • Radio Advertising: Send people from radio to your online offers and lead capture forms.
  • TV Advertising: Generate leads with short, 30 second on TV commercials.
  • Magazine Ads: Drive people to online lead capture form.

To be honest with you, generating a large list of leads is essential to making your online business successful. But you also must understand that having a large list won’t do you any good unless you nurture it. The same principle apply to the offline world too.

Increasing The Amount of Money They Spend With You

The next important way you need to know and apply is to increase the amount of money they spend with you when they purchase a product or service with you. The two simple ways to do this are with upsells and cross sells.

You might be asking what is this upsells and cross sells is all about? Okay, lets take MacDonald as an example, you see, when you order a mail, the person who serve you will always ask this:

“Would you like to upsize this?” (Known as upsells)

or

“Would you like to add fries with that?” (Known as cross sells)

Am sure now you should understand what upsells and cross sells means. You see, either at the point, or immediately afterwards, add ways to increase the average amount of money for each sales. It’s simple to add these online order forms to try to upsell them on your “advance” package.

Here’s a “insider” secrets for you for reading so far: Do you know why top marketers and super affiliates always do seminars and workshop now and then. The reason behind this is because going offline makes the sale more intimate so they can sell higher ticket products and they will have lower refund rate.

Get Them To Buy More Often

The last step is to get them to buy more often. This one is often overlooked. I know people who generate leads day in and day out. They are master of getting lots of customers, but after the sale is made, they are off to find more customers.

It’s always easier to get someone to buy again then to find new customer. The key to this is to keep track of your customer lists. You need to keep as much information about your customers as possible. You can send direct sales letters or postcards to them in the mail each month and the postman will hand delivered your message. It is easier to sell high ticket products through the mail then it is online.

You can also use offline elements like teleseminars, voice and fax broadcast, FedEx, UPS, post office and call centers (if you have the ability to do the necessary methods) to sell more products to your customers on the backend.

The key to this article that I wanted to point out is that you should want to be a marketer, not an internet marketer. Please don’t limit yourself to only internet when there are huge (and much stronger) possibilities to drive leads and backend customers in other media. Use a combination of these methods and you’ll see your business skyrocket!
